A Personal Approved Breathalyzer
Why 90% of the driving population have never really thought about getting an approved breathalyzer for personal use. I know a lot of us responsible citizens don't drink and drive thinking we are over the limit but an awful lot of people do enjoy a few glasses of wine at the weekend. A good friend of mine got cough out recently, lost her licence after having been breathalysed by the police and tested positive on her way to work. She had been at a small party until the early hours but thought she would be okay to drive to work after getting a taxi home, some sleep, shower and breakfast - WRONG !
This frightened me but if this sequence of events sounds familiar, and you like a social tipple during the week or at weekends. You don't want to be tripped up the next day, then for peace of mind, may be you should consider having a decent Approved Breathalyzer handy for those travels at home and abroad, before it is too late.
The Legal Limit
The UK legal limit for drivers is 80 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood, often referred to as a BAC or Blood-Alcohol Concentration. In US terms this would be expressed as 0.08%, (limits vary by State). The European limits (vary by country) French drink drive lower limit of 0.5% BAC. This is alternatively expressed in terms of breath alcohol - 35 µg (microgrammes) per 100 ml (which is now the usual official measure in the UK), or alcohol in the urine - 107 mg per 100 ml.

4.0 out of 5 stars You just have to have these 19 April 2012

We don't have a choice. New law in France will require
motorists to carry these breathalysers. Obviously the items can't be tested
unless you buy more, or get pulled over! So, here's hoping.... They are a
little expensive in relation to the French guidelines indicating they wouldn't
cost more than about £2 each, so it remains to be seen if they are easily
available at channel ports and within France and at what cost.

5.0 out of 5 stars The must have product to drive in

Requirement Approved Breathalyser (Twin Pack) (Automotive)
I did not want this product but as the French now require it
I purchased one. Whether it works or not I have no idea but this would not seem
to matter anyway! Having one of these in the car, along with the ridiculous
list of other things the French require is enough - and essential to avoid one
of the "on the spot fines" they so love to dole out.

5.0 out of 5 stars Overcoming the existential angst, 3 July
2012

Requirement Approved Breathalyser (Twin Pack) (Automotive)
A number of reviewers have pondered the great existential
question posed by this product. How can we know if it works unless we try it?
But if we try it then it can no longer be used and its existence becomes
unnecessary. It was Group-Captain Knob-Gag, steward at the West Penge
Conservative Club, who came up with the answer. I was able to test his novel
solution on a recent trip across La Manche. After using a breathalyser each
evening to check whether I was in any fit state to inflict myself upon the Gallic
road system, I followed his advice and broke it open, retaining the green crystals
contained therein. When I returned to these shores, I had a goodly collection
of said crystals. Mixed with a generous measure of Barrettines methylated
spirit, they made a most acceptable alternative to green Chartreuse.
The AlcoSAFE KX6000S Pro Breathalyser
is a fantastic, unique addition to the premium breathalyser market, featuring an easy-read Tri Colour Safe System (Traffic Light System) that lets you know when you are safe, close or above the alcohol driving limit.
You can't get it wrong--red, amber and green lights accompany any breath reading, displayed alongside a clear digital readout on a no-nonsense easy-read display.
Most breathalyzers will simply give you a digital readout of breath alcohol sample, leaving the user to interpret the reading. The AlcoSAFe KX6000S features cutting edge technology to ensure an accurate result every time. Advancements in sensor reliability and accuracy have been merged with an easy,
- One-touch menu control.
- EVT - Electronic Flow Check Technology,
- One Touch Menu Operation,
- Easy Select-able Display units,
- Auto Shut Down,
- Error Sensing Technology.
Cheaper alcohol breathalyzers do not offer many of these features, meaning that you may get an inaccurate result due to lack of error sampling protection. The AlcoSAFE KX6000S is supplied with a smart, compact protective carry pouch, meaning that it will fit snugly into a pocket or handbag and is ready for immediate use.
Accurate, sleek, reliable. The AlcoSAFE KX6000S Alcohol Breathalyzer is calibrated in BAC% - the UK/Eire limit showing as 0.08. The European limits (vary by country) but will show as 0.05 BAC% but the user can change the display units to show mg/l or promille if required. The red alert level can also be changed by the user.

4.0 out of 5 stars Save your Licence ! 9 Dec 2011
By Barns Noble
I must admit that I am always very loathed to give anything 5 stars, but I was sorely tempted with this. Opted for 4 stars instead as box a little damaged on arrival (hamfisted postie ?) but internally all well. Freaked out by a mate who got pulled over last week and breathalysed at 8.00am on way to work !! Thankfully he was clear but can't be too careful this time of year.
I can now see why these are selling well and some other comments refer to Amazon being permanently out of stock. I like the fact that you can vary the 'alert' level according to the manual ie you can set it to give you the BIG RED LIGHT at any level you want.
I have set mine to half of the UK limit which I think allows a sensible margin, it was already preset at 2/3rds. Lots of accompanying warnings with it saying the only safe limit is 0, agree totally. Will be buying more for family I think but will wait a month or so just to check that it still works fins after Xmas !
